Davies and Lockie Dream Team for Veloqx Ferrari

The presence of former BRDC Young Driver of the Year, Jamie Davies, alongside Calum Lockie at Wednesday's press conference at Silverstone gives a terrific boost to the 2002 British GT Championship in terms of public appeal.  The surprise announcement that Davies is to join Lockie for the whole season in the Ferrari UK-Veloqx Motorsport Team underlines the immense determination and ambition of the new Veloqx operation and the Championship potential of the Ferrari 360 GT in the GTO category this year.

Team Principal, Sam Li, comments: "I believe that Veloqx has the dream drivers' pairing in Calum and Jamie and that our entry will help not only to stir the soul of race fans and Ferrari supporters in the UK but also to encourage capable Ferrari club racing drivers to join our initiative, taking the competition to the other famous marques in the British GT series".

Starting at Brands Hatch next weekend, the team will use a chassis manufactured earlier this year but hopes to run a brand new car from the third round at Silverstone onwards, at which point the initial car will be handed over to two other promising drivers.  Support for the team comes from Ferrari UK (Maranello Concessionaires Limited) and the team also enjoys the full technical co-operation of the car's Italian builders, Michelloto.

Jamie Davies is a former winner with TWR in British F3 and won too in F3000 for DAMS; he finished a storming second in F3000 at Monaco in 2000 driving for Fortec and spent 2001 contracted to Panoz undertaking testing duties and competing at Le Mans.  He finished seventh for Panoz at Le Mans in 1998 partnering David Brabham and Andy Wallace.  Jamie is also a regular expert commentator for British Eurosport.

Calum Lockie was British GT Champion in 2000 and is very well known to British Racegoers not least because he runs The Gold Track Driving Club.  Both drivers are managed by Action Resources' Roger Phillips.  Phillips said: "This is great news for British Motorsport, with two of our most popular personalities - from England and Scotland - coming together in this way and it is entirely down to the enthusiasm and dedication of Veloqx Motorsport and Ferrari UK".
