The Westcountry’s top international race-driver, JAMIE DAVIES, returns to the American-owned Panoz sports car team for this weekend’s pre-race test for the Le Mans 24-hour classic.  Davies, 27, was the McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year in 1994 and was a front-runner in British Formula Three and European Formula 3000 – amongst his achievements in the latter were a win at the ultra-fast Enna circuit and a storming second place at Monaco last year in the Fortec Lola.

Davies raced successfully for Don Panoz in 1998 and finished a strong seventh at Le Mans with David Brabham and Andy Wallace after experiencing electrical problems during the night.

Having again been forced to abandon his quest for a drive in the North American-based Champ Car single-seater series due to the lack of a budget, Davies is thrilled to be driving the Panoz LMP07 prototype – “ I am delighted to be back at Le Mans and feel optimistic that we shall be on the pace”.  A preliminary test at Silverstone last week saw him record highly competitive times from the outset
